Biography:

Hi

I'm originally from across the border in Buckinghamshire but have lived in Northamptonshire for the past 37 years. Currently in Thrapston with husband Tony and daughter Eleanor, herself a keen photographer who is currently working at Delapre Abbey as their bookings manager. I also have a son William who lives in Yorkshire with his partner Vanessa.  Pre children I worked in a bank but for the last few years I worked at the Co-operative store in the beautiful town of Oundle. I retired in August 2015 and have now got much more time for my hobbies and interests of which photography is number one.

I come from a family of photographers so I've owned cameras since a very young age but it's only become a real passion fairly recently. I inherited my daughters bridge camera when she graduated to a DSLR and haven't looked back since. I now own a Nikon D3100 which I absolutely love. I have the usual 18-55mm lens that came with the camera but my everyday lens is a Tamron 18-270mm which I find covers just about all my needs. I also have a Sigma 50mm macro lens which is challenging to use but gives wonderful results. I also have a little Nikon Coolpix S9900 which is my back up if I haven't got the bigger camera with me.

My subjects are mainly landscapes of our beautiful area and also buildings, in particular churches and other historic places and I like to go out exploring all these lovely local haunts. Macro photography is obviously another subject I enjoy, especially flowers and plants being a keen gardener and also country lover. My other photography love is in the equestrian world of eventing and annual trips are always to Rockingham Horse Trials (a real favourite) and also Burghley. My daughter is a keen rider and photographer and together we make a good team with our photos! My husband and I have a caravan which we go off in several times a year and the coast is also a huge inspiration. We like Norfolk, Suffolk, Lincolnshire and Mersea Island, all beautiful coastal areas and a recent trip to Dungeness has put that firmly up there with my favourite places.  I also have a real addiction for Instagram (sunchild57) where I'm a judge for the 365 competition on there, (a daily themed photograph). My latest news is that I'm about to start taking photographs for Delapre Abbey, very excited to get going with this new venture!
